From Dogster: 7 Things You Need to Know About Antifreeze

Working at Dogster is like being one of the people who runs the dog park – the hilarious times are many and the lessons learned are valuable. But sadly enough, it’s not always just fun and games. Those days do roll around when you show up and one of the dog park regulars is not there.

Last week, there wasn’t just one dog who didn’t show up to play. There were three. Dogster dogs Jake, Joey, and Nari had to be put to sleep last week, after having ingested antifreeze.

It is said that antifreeze is responsible for the poisoning of over 10,000 dogs and cats every year. It’s really a special time for us and chances are that you enjoy outdoor activities with your companion animal, too.

That’s why I want to share two important safety tips with you. Every year, I read heartbreaking statistics about lost pets and accidents that could have been avoided with just a little planning. Our companion animals are family members and they can’t always protect themselves. That’s our job as pet parents. So here are a couple of things to help keep your pet safe during this glorious Spring season.

Identification for Dogs & Cats

“ps – my own discovery. Make sure the collar fits, my dog got his collar stuck on a chain link fence. Had I not caught him in time, he would have chocked to death!!!”

Even though I am sure that you keep a close eye on your companion animal when outdoors, a number of things can happen to separate you.
