YEAH! Now look at this dog, what a happy dog!
A new law in Spain requires dog owners to walk their dogs a minimum of 20 minutes per day…or get fined (Canadian $650)…What do you think?
It is such an amazing morning here today. Finally, we have sunshine, and it is warm out. All the way up to 24 today. I could even walk my dogs without a jacket today, WOW! Even in short sleeves.
I walk along the walk-through at the end of my street to the park, once around the park, and then back again. It is usually about 30-60 minute walk, depending on how much I hang around in the park.
I see the same sad thing over and over again watching other people walk their dogs. First I have to say that the ground and the grass is dry, not muddy. And yet, everyone is walking their dogs on the small cement walkway. Why?
People, let your dogs feel the grass under their paws. Let them sniff the newly awakening earth. The growth of plants, trees. Dogs are animals, they are meant to be a part of nature. Do not deprive them of this by walking through a beautiful park, and making them stay on the paved path.
Take your dog on the grass. Take your dogs a little off the beaten path. Walk along the brook, not by it. You may even find that it helps you to get rid of some stress as you also become a little bit a part of nature. Especially now, in the spring, when all is coming to life.
But really, this applies for all summer long. Don’t be a cement walker. Become a nature walker with your dog.
