I know that separation anxiety is a big problem, especially for rescued dogs.  There is help for Separtation Anxiety, as you can read from this guest blog article.

Our dog tore up the house all because we left home without him.

While there are some pets who are dealing with dog separation anxiety that will destroy things, they are not doing so to punish you. No, it is the result of a lot of stress building up because he feels all alone.

Crating Your Pet Will Fix The Problem

Absolutely , by crating the dog it is going to prevent him from tearing up the furniture but it sure will not help him to deal with his anxiety problems. There is the chance that by handling the behavior this way with a dog with this kind of problem, he could injure himself in his attempt to get free.

Really Getting After Your Dog Can Fix Dog Separation Anxiety.

No, this tactic will make things much worse. When you go somewhere your dog is already anxious and uptight. Now just imagine how your dog feels when you walk through that door and he is met with some sort of punishment. Your dog is just feeling a lot of panic which is causing him to act in a certain way, he is not doing these things on purpose.

So, what is the solution for dog separation anxiety? The answers vary depending on how bad the condition is. For mild forms of anxiety you will be able to apply simpler methods of treatment. For example, do not put on a big show after you arrive home, just stay calm and give him a short comforting pet.

A few people have found that if they left an item behind that had their scent on it, it seemed to help a dog with the mild form of separation anxiety find some comfort.

To fix the problem of dog separation anxiety will take some time and will take even longer for the severe cases. If your dogs’ anxiety issues are severe, then you might want to find a dog day care or a family member to watch your pet while in your absence.

Dog separation and bad behavior are not the same, your dog is in misery and he is looking to you to come up with a solution that works.

Secrets to dog training – Stop your Dog’s Behavior Problems!

What Is It?

Secrets to dog training presents an unusually detailed and thorough look at how to both prevent and deal with the more common problem behaviors exhibited by dogs. As the owner of a moderately troublesome mutt myself, I’ve spent a fair amount of time searching the Net for reliable resources on this topic, and I have to say that the level of knowledge and detail contained within the pages of this compendium is unusually exacting for an online book.

I moved into a new house about 14 days ago.

The funny thing about this house is that—when you walk into the master bathroom, the light switch is on the left side, opposite of where the sink is.

Well, practically every other house I’ve ever lived in has always had the light switch on the right side—or at least on the same side as the sink.

And I’ll be a monkey’s uncle if EVERY SINGLE TIME I’ve walked into that bathroom, my hand doesn’t instinctively reach to the right to turn the light switch on. Even after 14 days, my prior conditioning has been so ingrained that when I consciously try to remember which side the light switch is on… my hand still shoot out to the right, instead of the left.
