My Shorty looking at me calling her name…

If you ask anybody about their dog`s name, the answer will be:  “Well, my dog knows her name really well.”  In fact, MOST DOGS DO NOT KNOW THEIR NAME, WE JUST THINK THEY DO. And, only a few people actually do teach this life-saving skill.

When you call your dog’s name this should mean: “eye contact”, “stop and look at me”.
Once you have taught your dog name recognition, this will become a sign in any situation/place of your dog’s response to you.  If you and your dog are doing some new training, or you are in a new place, and your dog won’t respond to it’s name (once you have taught it) then it won’t respond to any other command eith (usually).

Responding to you instantly is so important, not just for daily living, but, in emergencies.  Responding to you could mean the difference between getting hurt and being safe!
