My Dejected Nikki
21 Oct 2008

That’s my Nikki, staring at an empty couch/bed
It takes this Golden, my Nikki, a long time to get over losing her beloved “other” owner. My hubby had advanced MS and was bed bound so my Nikki spent practically 24/7 with him, mostly, aggravating him <smile>. He recently passed away.
When she did chill out she was on her chair…just like here in the picture. The chair was right across from his couch (bed). My hubby used to whisper the words “Hi Ikki Nikki” to her and her tail would wag once. Then he would say it again louder, and her tail goes twice. Well, this would continue until her tail wagged a mile a minute.
He even did this in the middle of the night. Nikki loved it. He always got this reaction from her and it really pleased him.
You know that to this day, she will NOT wag her tail for me when I do the same thing. Rather, she just lies in her chair very dejected. She used to look alert and happy, even while lying down. Not any more.
It takes us all time to grieve, even his Nikki.
Let me make one point here. Look after the affairs of your pet before something happens just in case you need to go away, go into the hospital, or even for the time you may not come back.

Hi Ruth,
I hope it won’t be too much longer before
Nikki comes around. She looks sooo sad.
Love,
Carla
