More about your dogs/cats anal glands. Read the original article here.

I had my dog’s glands expressed yesterday. And, about 2 weeks before that. It seems that she is not able to do it herself. It usually happens when a dog goes poop, and the pressure of the anus/intestine will release a doggy squirt from the anal glands.

If not “expressed” then the glands will become abscessed or infected. So, we are trying to give more fiber in her food, and hopefully the extra bulk will expand her intestines to squeeze the glands.

Keep an eye on your dog when the scoot, or chase their back ends, or try to pull their tail out. It’s time to have your vet check for impacted glands!

I will let you know how the added fiber works. I will have her glands checked again in about 10-14 days.
