Food Dangers

Dogs, or cats, that are fed a good human grade quality pet food need no supplements (unless there is a specific reason, as suggested by a professional).

The food you are feeding your pets should contain all the nutrients in the balanced proportions your pet needs. Unless you are into making your own food, left overs and table scraps are often not of the right ingredients for your pets. In olden days, yes, because the “humans” food was different than it is today.

Bad eating habits can lead to obesity and health issues for your pets. Your pet food should be of the type that it can fulfill your pet’s requirements at all stages of its life.

Over feeding your pets in supplements, both vitamins and minerals can be outright dangerous to your pets. Animals have different needs and requirements than humans, and they can easily be overdosed with supplements.

For instance, a long term supplement of Vitamin A could cause bone malformation. A high concentration of calcium in a growing dog could cause bone deformities. Also, a dog manufactures its own vitamin C, unlike their human counterparts.

Always consult a real professional before you give your pets any supplements. Don’t play at being the doctor here, your pets could suffer if you do.
