How Do I Pick My New Owners
Darren over at Problogger is running another Group Writing Project and this post is my entry. Thanks Darren.
All of us puppies are playing in our kennel. We are ready to get picked and go home with our new family. The family has been taught how to look for the right puppy.

Here is what I look for in my new owners. And when I sense that they have these attributes then I run up to these people, I snuggle up to them and make sure that it is me they pick.
- My new owners will need a lot of sleep. Don’t forget, I will be crying throughout the night for the first few days.
- My new owners will need lots of paper towels and rug cleaner because I will have lots of little accidents.
- My new owners will definitely patience! O boy, will they need patience. I will try to chew everything I can get my little teeth around.
Patience! I will steal anything that I can grab and run with.
Patience! I will whine and cry when I want something. And that will be often.
- My new owners will need to be firm but gentle and loving. I can test my new owners to their rope’s end. I have endless energy and determination. I can melt almost anyone’s resolve…my eyes and expression will do that you know.
- My new owners will need to have commitment. O yes, my new owners have to have commitment. After all, I will be around for the rest of my life.
- My new owners will need to be caring. Yes, my new owners need to be very caring. After all, I will grow up; I will not stay a cute puppy forever. I will become a cute grown up dog instead. And, I will need lots of care. You will need to care for me during the adolescent years, during the prime of my life and during my old age. Each time period requires a different kind of “care”.
- My new owners will need to be loving. Ah, this is one of the most important attributes my owner has to have. I mean, I am a dog, I AM love and if I don’t get it back my life is miserable and unfulfilled.
- My new owners will need to want my friendship and companionship. After all, this is why I want to come into their life and family; for us to become friends and companions for life.
- My new owners will need to be fair and consistent. The best way they can do this is to commit to training me. Help me to learn HOW I can best fit into their family. That is really what I want to do you know; fit in and be part of the family.
- My new owners will need to ensure that I get exercise, good food and lots of brushing. I heard those big clumps of matted fur really hurt. And some dogs have them forever you know. Because their owners don’t care that much and never brush them.
In return for all of this I promise to love and cherish you to my end. You will always be the most important thing in my life. I will honor and love you forever. I will protect you and I would even die for you. I will always be sad to see you go out the door and no one could be happier than me when you come back in the door. No matter how grumpy or miserable you get, I will always wag my tail and love you. I will be your best friend forever. That is my pledge to you.
