Dog treats you do not need to worry about

healthy dog treatsWhere I live, there have been many reports about dogs getting sick, and even dying, because of new treats out on the market.  Dogs have a hard time digesting many products, including pigs ears, greens, and even rawhide bones…that is what my vet told me. Not only that, but one newspaper actually showed an xray of a dog’s stomach with the complete and undigested greens in it. This poor dog died because he could not digest what he ate. Remember, when in doubt, always check with a professional.   So, feed your dog these low fat treats, and you do not have to worry!

Training puppies too early can be difficult. But, if you do not train him early, he will very quickly have the run of the house.

Training puppies is necessary because it saves you trouble later. Most dog owners skip this because we all know that dog training takes some effort. If you could teach a puppy in a month, you would be happy. But training a dog well is a longer task. Just because your dog looks cute as a puppy do not let this deter you from training him early.

In training puppies, there are some do’s and don’ts.

Do

Provide the puppy with consistent access to the toilet area. If you are training your puppy at home take him to his toilet area every 45 minutes or so. If you are not at home make sure you help your puppy make as few ‘mistakes’ as possible, by giving him a puppy friendly environment.

A Vet, A Lizard And Gas

My NikkiI went to visit the vet with my Katie Bear, a golden retriever. Our vet’s office was blessed with a young vet, and this young vet just had an amazing affinity with animals. Even though he is a lover of all animals, his specialty is small animals and birds. He is knows as a rare bird specialist.

I had my Katie Bear with me, we had some serious health issues, and that will be another story, if I can ever write it. But, today, I am writing about a vet, and a lizard!!!

I had my dog in the back room, where the animals are kept, because we did not know if this particular day would be here last day, and that day, she was granted grace.

And as I stood back in that room, waiting for my own vet to look at my dog I watched this young vet with this lizard.

He picked up the lizard, talked to it, gently stroked it, lifted up, looked at it, and proclaimed that the lizard only had gas!!

Now, even in my situation I had to smile…after all…it takes a special vet, in my eyes anyways, to be able to declare that a lizard is only suffering from gas :)

My Katie Bear that day came home with me. Another day, that was not to be, but, I still am not able to confront that day in my heart, so I will leave it be.

Just wanted to share that lizard story. This vet did amazing emotional work with me when I had to confront my hardest day, and I will forever be grateful to him.

Anyways, I just thought about this lizard story for today. Does anyone else have any vet stories…hopefully not sad ones, I hate to cry too much!
